IdeiaGov selects companies with solutions aimed at combating climate change

Second Edition of the Acceleration Program will select 20 impact businesses that have innovative and scalable solutions

IdeiaGov, the São Paulo State Government's innovation hub, announced, in partnership with Connected Places Catapult (CPC), the British Consulate and InvestSP, the 2nd edition of the Acceleration Program.

The challenges were mapped together with the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment (SIMA) of the Government of the State of São Paulo, with a view to acting on the Net Zero 2050 agenda.

To achieve the proposed goals, IdeiaGov will select 20 impact businesses from all over Brazil and Latin America that have innovative and scalable solutions and that propose to solve problems related to four specific challenges: reducing greenhouse gas emissions; change in the energy matrix; mobility and sustainable fuels; and resilient cities.

The selected startups will work in synergy with around ten UK startups to jointly develop solutions for the State of São Paulo. In addition, they will have the opportunity to make online connections with investors, governments and industry organizations.

Enrollment in the program is free and must be done on the IdeiaGov website, in Portuguese, by September 9, 2021.

Interested startups must present a solution that adheres to one of the aforementioned challenges and have at least one entrepreneur fluent in English and Portuguese (for Latin American companies) to monitor the activities with companies in the United Kingdom.

All activities will be online, conveyed through webinars, mentorships and practical workshops.

The State of São Paulo was the first to commit to reducing pollutant emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change through a government decree, signed in July 2021, as part of the UN campaign.

Based on this agreement between the United Kingdom and the Government of the State of São Paulo, it will be possible to establish a joint work agenda on actions on climate change, decarbonization and resilience.
